LOCATION AND CLIMATE
Baska Voda (Central Dalmatia, Croatia) is located in Central Adriatic in region Central Dalmatia. It is located 48 km south from town Split. Baska Voda is a Municipality consisted of 5 settlements: Baska Voda, Bast, Krvavica, Promajna and Bratus. Municipality Baska Voda has around 3000 inhabitants.
Climate in Baska Voda is Meditarranean with hot and dry summers. Average year temperature is around 16 ?C. Baska Voda has around 2700 sunny hours per year. Winds that blow are scirocco, bora and mistral.
You can arrive to Baska Voda by bus, car, train, plane or a boat. It is located around 50 km far from Split, 170 km north from Dubrovnik, 400 km south from Zagreb.
HISTORY
Baska Voda has been inhabitated since Prehistory. From Ancient times many graveyards have been found. Till 7th century Avars, Huns, Slavs were attacking area of Baska Voda, so inhabitants built walls and forts.
Croats came to this area in 7th century. First buildings were built around 17th century (Church of St. Lovro). Inhabitants were directed to agriculture, fishing and sea business. In 1912. Baska Voda was most important port in this part of Croatia. Today, Baska Voda is very popular tourist destination, especially since Adriatic road was built in 1968.
